Birthdays and Easter

Perhaps the most important place to celebrate the joys of our faith is with our family and the people that we love. The Children of Israel knew this, and the book of Deuteronomy teaches them, “And rejoice before the Lord your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name—you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, the Levites in your towns, and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows living among you. (Dt 16:11)” It was and is important to rejoice when we are close to God. Joy is contagious, and quite pleasurable. In Generous faith, the family head (by whatever means the head assumes that role) can be ready to share opportunities to link the “family” (including relatives by birth and relatives by shared need and experience) with the great joy of responding to God.
We seem to celebrate a lot, and I realized that I should start the idea of blogging by being generous enough to let you enjoy the celebrations too.

Ethan’s 3rd Birthday

Ethan loves combines, so he had a farm birthday. His Mom, Brenna made the cake.

   You are my combine

   My shiny combine

   You cut my hay down when it is long

   Now we can play there 

     'cause there’s no hay there

   And we’ll sing this combining song

Easter Day Supper

My daughter Erin had Pat and me and all the children and grandchildren and Aunt Alice and Uncle Joe in for Easter supper. We hunted for Easter eggs, decorated cookies, opened presents (thank you Bethany!) and we were happy. Celebrating is a great spiritual discipline.
